Spring Clean

Spring Clean

Spring is here so it’s time to give your body a spring clean of its own. Day to day living results in an accumulation of toxins in our bodies. Medications we ingest, foods we eat and different chemicals we’re exposed to, have the potential to store in our bodies and affect our energy levels and general well being. Tiredness, poor digestive function, hazy concentration, hormonal imbalances and skin complaints are all good indicators that your system could benefit from a clean out, starting with the digestive system.

We are not only what we eat, but what we absorb. Digestive function is imperative to a healthy lifestyle. Our Gastro Intestinal Tract (GIT) serves many functions beyond nutrient absorption. Our GIT produces a large portion of our feel good hormone Serotonin, it encompasses a massive portion of our immune system which is important in keeping the bugs away and it also has a role to play in hormone metabolism.

Many digestive complaints arise from incorrect food choices and for some people, intolerances to everyday foods. Many clients I see complain of abdominal bloating which can often be reduced by avoiding refined foods like takeaways and also everyday foods like bread and pasta. Herbal teas, particularly peppermint and chamomile often assist in settling an upset GIT, while improving the balance of good to bad bacteria in our bowels often improve digestive complaints.

There are many different strains of good bacteria and many of them have different actions within our GIT, so talk to our Naturopaths about the product to best suit your condition or book an appointment for a full review and tailored program to learn how to optimise your health and energy.
