Immune Boosters

Immune Boosters

There is much you can do to boost your immune and reduce the severity and frequency of infections.

Sunshine and moderate exercise are easy and effective. Sunshine increases vitamin D levels, with inherent immune stimulating properties. Moderate exercise boosts natural killer cells which help destroy viruses and reduce the effects of stress, an immune system enemy.

Ensure adequate zinc and iron levels. Zinc is essential for lymphocyte production; cells that help the body fight disease. Frequent bouts of the common cold can occur with an iron deficiency, particularly in the  young.

Other critical nutrients include: vitamin A, C, B6, B1, protein and selenium. A well-balanced diet rich in
fruit, vegetables, lean protein and wholegrains, without processed sugars, fats and alcohol will provide a
tremendous immune enhancing effect.

A compromised digestive system places a strain on the surrounding immune system and redirects energies away fromfighting infections. Beneficial gut bacteria such as Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus rhamnosus strengthens the digestive tract and boosts the immune system.

Professional quality herbal medicines such as echinacea, elderberry, andrographis and cats claw enhance the immune system and are best prescribed by a qualified health practitioner.
